The Old Lancastrians Committee funded another wonderful staircase project creating a pictorial timeline for every step of the way from Year 7-Upper 6th.
Pupils were involved in choosing themes and ideas to represent specific aspects of their 'journey'. In Year 7, they highlighted that students learn new subjects including the sciences, they are part of Founders' Day at Lancaster Priory and go on a residential together. In Year 8 highlights include raising money by completing the Elf Run and Reindeer Run for St John's Hospice. In Year 9 there are opportunities to learn to row, join CCF and learn Ancient Greek. In Year 10 there's DofE and foreign exchanges. In Year 11 you can become a Prefect and play football (at last!). For those staying on or perhaps new joining us in Sixth Form, there is the Praesis Ut Prosis award, girls rugby, netball and LawSoc. Finally we reach the top with the Leavers' Ball and becoming Old Lancastrians.
Thank you so much to the incredible artist @helen_ashton_artist for working so hard on bringing our pupils ideas to life with design and production. We are all thrilled with the result.
Wow! Is the best way to describe Helens work. Her sculpture of Freddie is absolutely amazing. Helen is truly an extremely talented artist. She took a picture of Freddie and then created this wonderful sculpture which is unbelievable realistic and has really has capture Freddie a fantastic piece of art. I personally would highly recommend her work it is amazing.
It's amazing how Helen can bring a piece of clay to life. The love and attention to detail she puts into her work clearly shows and to say we are absolutely thrilled with our finished piece is an understatement.
It is exactly what we wanted and more and has exceeded all our expectations. So much so, we have already commissioned her to make us another bespoke piece.
Can't stop looking at the photos of my Coo. She's gorgeous!

“Helen did a magnificent job, she thoroughly researched each person to create the perfect tribute. Our staircase is a great talking point and pupils are inspired to one day have a ‘step’ of their own”.

We have loved the new staircase design! Helen did a brilliant job of researching and creating original designs appropriate to each name. It has transformed an unremarkable staircase and entrance hall into a talking point and vibrant feature. Thank you!
Both the Express and the Mirror picked up my story and ran with a great article featuring my stair art.
This has now become my total passion and I love that I can spend every day doing what I love!
