Rat with Wings...

I just love making these little creatures. Full of character and so individual.
This little white rat comes with his own wings and a rainbow light bulb. The bulb can be changed should you wish for a heart or more traditional one.
Each rat is hand built so not one is the same as another - as they are in real life!
The Green Man

The Green man is a symbol of rebirth and new growth that appears in art, architecture and folklore.
I really wanted to capture the strength and wisdom in this creature and loved every part of the process.
He is fully ceramic, mounted on an oak plinth ready to hang in your home to symbolise new growth and to hopefully bring you luck.

Shining a light on Rats
Ceramic, hand built, hand painted Rat, holding a light.
I get asked to some interesting commissions and when a lovely client asked me to make her a Rat, I was a little reluctant! However, once he was finished I absolutely fell in love with him.
There are two versions here, one holding an old fashioned bulb on a wire with a plug, and one holding a USB rechargeable heart light.

Tigers are the most beautiful majestic animals. They fascinate us with their wonderful markings.
I always loved drawing and painting them so to actually make a 3D clay sculpture then paint it was a dream.
This has been mounted on a piece of 'Tiger Wood' and you can see the markings behind the sculpture.

I absolutely loved creating this sea turtle and managed to find a wonderful piece of driftwood for him to sun himself on.
I love the freedom of handpainting the colourful shell and think he would brighten any home. (He takes no looking after either!)

Horses have always been my go to when creating pieces. From when I first started out as an artist, drawing them and now building them from clay.
The strength of the horse and the flow of the mane is not an easy capture so when it works - its amazing!
This piece was not based on any horse in particular, but would look amazing in any home.

Ceramic Elephant head

Elephants have always had a place in our hearts. These majestic creatures bring the feeling of power yet they are gentle giants too.
I wanted to incapsulate the elephant in its environment so I painted the background on a beautiful piece of oak. The piece measures 14inches X 16inches with a depth of about 3inches. The oak board is extremely heavy (but bizzarly the Elephant is not 🤣).
This was not a commission so he is available to purchase.

I absolutely love the challenge of creating a piece of a loved pet. The challenge is to not only make it as life like as possible but to make it recognisable as the pet in question.
This little dog really challenged me. From the lump of clay to the finished piece. Bringing him to life was an absolute joy.
Its not always easy when you don't know the pet in question but I have it on good authority, I nailed it!

This dragon head is based on the first dragon I created and the colours are guided by the client.

Love Rugby, Love Chess
You need a Rugby Chess Set!
After creating an 'alternative' chess set, my love of Rugby got me thinking.
So I created a Rugby Chess set! With Rugby balls for Pawns, kicking tees for castles, scrum caps for Bishops and gum shields for knights. The queen has the red and yellow card with a whistle and the king of course has the trophy!
All set on a wooden hand painted board with the boarders trimmed with grass.
This sold the minute I finished it! I must admit I am sad to see it go.

I had a crazy idea.... everyone loves Gonks, so why not make a Chess set with Gonk characters. Why not indeed!
The Pawns had to be prawns! the knights - of course had to be the knights of NI from Monty Python and I turned the Castles in to Rook feathers (get it?) There is a black set and a white set and they are all sitting happily on a leather chess board from the amazing Chess Baron (www.chessbaron.co.uk).
